Route 66!
My name is Michael Wallis. I am a best-selling author and historian. I also am very proud that one of my books, Route 66: The Mother Road is often credited as serving as the spark that ignited an incredible revival of interest in this legendary highway.
Route 66 serves as an important symbol of many examples of living history that may be discovered not only in the U.S. but around the world. This road represents America before my country became generic and became littered with look-alike shopping malls and fast food eateries. Many layers of this country's history can be viewed and experienced while traveling all 2,400-miles of Route 66 between Chicago, Illinois, and Santa Monica, California.
Through the years as Route 66 has become increasingly popular not only in the U.S. but around the world, I have had the pleasure of building a solid friendship with Trond Moberg and his family. Trond, a founder of the Norwegian Route 66 Association, is a true and authentic Road Warrior and a real champion of Route 66. He represents everything that is good about the highway today.
It has been my honor to meet the hundreds of satisfied and delighted Route 66 visitors, mostly from Scandinavia, who have been led by the very capable Trond on a journey of a lifetime down the Mother Road.
The service provided translates to a magical experience for each one of the participants because Trond truly cares about people and about the open road.
His passion is the key ingredient insuring that every traveler's journey on roaring Harleys adds to the legacy of Route 66. When people travel with Trond, they travel with a valued member of the Route 66 family and because of that they have the opportunity to meet people and see places that most tourists miss.
I am eternally grateful to Trond for caring so much about Route 66. Thank you my dear friend!
Hope to see all of you on the road! Enjoy the journey!
